You should always beware whenever anyone asks for your social security number.  You’ll have to give your number to some businesses if you want to get a loan, apply for credit, or even set up a cell phone account.  However, if you ever think someone asking for your social security number really doesn’t need it, just tell them you won’t give it out.  Your social security number is your lifeline to your credit history, which will be with you for your entire life.  Don’t let someone else ruin your credit and good name by allowing your social security number to get out into the open.
